Hey, guys! I wrote an article for Btopia about how differently Danny Brown and Kitty were treated after both being attacked on stage. Both were incredibly disgusting acts of assault, yet because of the gender differences they were evaluated quite differently in the media. Why is this, and why should it matter either way?

In 2001, “out of 760 dogs impounded, they killed 713, arranged for 19 to be adopted, and farmed out 36 to other shelters (not necessarily “no kill” ones). As for cats, they impounded 1,211, euthanized 1,198, transferred eight, and found homes for a grand total of five. PETA also took in 58 other companion animals —rabbits. It killed 54 of them.”

As well as their disgusting body shaming, their hyper sexualization and objectification of women’s bodies, their romanticizing of violence against women… HUMAN BEINGS AGAINST PETA.

Let’s not forget their blatant and excessive racism.

Reblogging in case there is anyone out there who reads my blog and still respects/supports PETA. I remember when I first started Feminish a little over a year ago, I wrote a commentary about the org, and to my surprise, a lot of folks had no idea they were waist deep in this kinda bullshit. (Good thing to bookmark for when folks ask for evidence later.)

I’ve been a vegetarian for seven years, and have had an up and down relationship with peta (Poorly Educated Teen Activists). To their credit, I probably would never have become a veg if the animal rights club at my high school didn’t distribute peta pamphlets. The president of that club got some sort of youth award from peta years later. I used to be suuuuuuuper intense about them and attended protests and had every veg t-shirt and retweeted them several times a day, etc. 

Then over the course of time they began to wear on me. Things started going downhill when I attended a McDonald’s protest and a news reporter shoved a mic in my face and asked me why I was handing photos of bloody chickens to CHILDREN. I had no idea what she was talking about and then out of the corner of my eye I saw, as if on cue, one of the other teen-activists at the protest handing a pamphlet to a kid who couldn’t have been more than six. (asdfghjkl) The very next day there was a woman and a young boy being interviewed on Fox News because the boy had been approached by peta members and was now too scared to eat chicken. The media had a field day with that fiasco.

Several other eye-rolling campaigns and incidents came and went that just continued to reduce their credibility. What bothered me the most was how angry they made people. Most people HATE peta, and will not only ignore everything they say, but also not bother to dig deeper into animal rights issues out of spite. Read: Why Peta is Meat’s Best Friend. I didn’t agree with the author, but I didn’t disagree either!!! It was a legitimate problem for animal rights. They just have this “all press is good press” mentality which is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. BAD PRESS IS BAD.

After they gave Octomom $5000 to display a spaying and neutering ad on her front lawn, I stopped donating to them. As far as I could tell they were literally pissing the money away. They called, and sent emails and wondered where I went. I wrote out a long letter explaining everything they do wrong, and never answered them again. They’re a joke. 

(Also, I know a guy who went veg after seeing that commercial with the girl wearing the neckbrace. *sighhhhhhhh*)

If this is your kind of thing, donate to your local shelter. Any multimillion-dollar charity organization is going to be a trainwreck of corruption. ASPCA is another god-awful organization you should never give a dime to. The last thing on their mind is the well being of animals.

This is what the school-to-prison pipeline looks like. This is how black youth criminalized.

1. She was doing a science experiment
2. She’s being charged as an ADULT
3. She’s being charged with a FELONY

If this all goes the way the prosecution wants, this young woman will be LEGALLY discriminated against for the rest of her life. No voting, housing discrimination,  employment discrimination (as if getting a job while black isn’t hard enough), etc. etc.

There is a petition up … spread the word.
